Sean Eli McCormick, M.A. is a PhD candidate in the Department of Bioethics at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine (Cleveland, OH). He has served as a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Philosophy at the University of Akron (Akron, OH) since Fall 2022 and as an Instructor in the Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies at Cleveland State University (Cleveland, OH) since Fall 2016. He is a member of University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center Ethics Committee (July 2014-present), University Hospitals Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital Ethics Committee (October 2021-present), UH CMC Patients Without Proxy (PWP) Subcommittee (March 2015-present), and was a clinical ethics intern at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center for a one-year term 2024-2025. He additionally serves as a peer reviewer for Quality Matters, an organization which certifies online and blended courses for quality standards across the country. His research interests include disability bioethics, population and community health, transplant ethics, professionalism and boundaries, and the ethics of emerging technologies. He holds two master's degrees--one in Bioethics and Medical Humanities from Case Western Reserve University (2022) and one in Philosophy from Cleveland State University (2016)--and one bachelor's degree from Cleveland State University in Religious Studies, Philosophy, and Classical & Medieval Studies (2014).
