Journalist and Author
Mary Elizabeth Williams is a journalist whose work has appeared in the New York Times, LA Times, and elsewhere, and is the author of the award-winning A Series of Catastrophes & Miracles: A True Story of Love, Science, & Cancer. Her work has covered the ethics of organ transplantation, reproductive healthcare, and the repercussions of medical whistleblowing. A member of two patient advisory boards and NYU Langone’s Compassionate Use & Preapproval Access working ethics group, she holds a certification in narrative medicine from Columbia University, and is currently a doctoral candidate in medical humanities and a master’s student of conflict resolution. Her research is on the practical applications of crisis communication in healthcare.
