Vanessa Watkins, MPH, FACHE, CHES, is Intelligence & Insights Strategist in Strategy, Innovation, and Partnerships at Children's Mercy Kansas City. Her role involves strategic planning, research, analysis, collaboration, and communications. She is a subject matter expert on future trends, new technologies, and is becoming proficient at using AI. She previously served as Administrative Director of the Certificate Program in Pediatric Bioethics and the Children's Mercy Bioethics Center Program Manager for 13 years. In 2015, Vanessa earned the Certificate in Pediatric Bioethics from the Children’s Mercy Bioethics Center; her project and paper focused on vaccine hesitant parents and the role of pediatricians. Vanessa serves on the Children's Mercy Ethics Committee and the Physician Marketing Committee. In the past, she also served on the Children's Mercy Council on Violence Prevention (past-chair), including as leader of the Peer Violence subcommittee (bullying)), and on a Clinical Practice Work Group. Vanessa is board-certified in health care administration as a Fellow (FACHE) through the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) and is a Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES). She is a recipient of the ACHE Early Careerist Healthcare Executive Regent's Award, the San Diego Organization of Healthcare Leaders Outstanding Board Member Award and the ACHE Service Award. Vanessa received the San Diego State University Health Services Administration AMI Distinguished Graduating Student Award. She has over 20 years of progressive experience in health care and public health primarily for Children's Mercy and Sharp HealthCare.
