Dr. Alex Kon is a pediatric intensivist and certified healthcare ethics consultant. He has served as the President of the American Society for Bioethics and Humanities, lead for healthcare ethics for the United States Military Health System, Chair of the Society of Critical Care Medicine Ethics Committee, and other leadership roles for the NIH and FDA. He has published over 100 papers and book chapters on ethics-related issues including international guidelines on shared decision-making, futility, and ICU patient and family support, was the founding Editor-in-Chief of AJOB Empirical Bioethics, and was the lead author of the 2025 3rd edition of the ASBH Core Competencies for Healthcare Ethics Consultants.
