Jessie Sage Cheng is a Registered Nurse who divides her professional time between serving as a Legal Nurse Consultant with nonprofit organizations and legal teams representing patients in complex medical-ethical cases, and using her clinical specialty in oncology to support research aimed at learning from every person's experience with cancer. Being witness to challenging ethical issues in healthcare has been pivotal to Jessie pursuing her Master’s degree in bioethics at The Ohio State University. At OSU, she serves as Student Representative on the Graduate Studies Committee and hosts the bioethics program’s monthly journal club. Her areas of interest include law and policy, disability rights, palliative and end-of-life care, healthcare equity, and the intersection of bioethics and the Christian faith. Of particular concern to Jessie is navigating discourse around the (Christian) Church’s role in justice-oriented policymaking. She enjoys giving back by sitting on the Board of Directors for two nonprofit organizations, serving as a Family Advisor on several committees and boards at her local children’s hospital, creating materials to resource patients and families in navigating illness and care, lobbying for equitable laws and policies, and facilitating conversations with students and healthcare professionals about issues that matter.
