Donald Carter, III, is an Assistant Professor of Bioethics and Professionalism at Mercer University Medical School. As a minority, he is interested in increased diversity within bioethics to spur inclusive thought, perspective, and dialogue to better serve and represent the multifaceted communities in which we live. Thus, health equity is one of his research interests within subtopics such as rural health, organ donation and transplantation, artificial intelligence, and geriatrics. Donald holds an undergraduate degree from Fisk University, a Master's in Business Administration from Tennessee State University, a Master's of Divinity from Vanderbilt University, and a Doctorate of Bioethics from Loyola University Chicago. He was also a 2022 – 2023 Hastings Center Sadler Scholar and a 2020 recipient of Vanderbilt Divinity School’s Frederick Buechner Prize for Excellence in Preaching.
