Harvard Medical School
BELMONT, Massachusetts
Avani Nooka, MBE, BA received her Bachelor of Arts in Molecular Biology with a minor in Global Health and Health Policy from Princeton University and her Master of Science in Bioethics from Harvard Medical School. Her academic and professional work centers on the intersections of neuroscience, psychiatry, and ethics, with a focus on how structural inequities shape cognitive and mental health outcomes.
At Princeton, she served as Co-Editor-in-Chief of the Princeton Public Health Review, directed the Mental and Emotional Health Committee, and competed internationally as a nationally ranked debater for Team USA. Her senior thesis investigated Apolipoprotein E as a therapeutic target for traumatic brain injury, contributing to emerging understandings of neurodegenerative repair mechanisms.
Currently, she works at Mass General Brigham as a Clinical Research Coordinator on a home-hospital study for patients living with dementia, where she helps design ethical frameworks for remote cognitive assessment and care delivery. Her ongoing research examines the neuroethical implications of telepsychiatry and telehealth policy; particularly how digital care models influence diagnostic accuracy, autonomy, and justice for rural patients.
Following graduation, she plans to pursue a medical degree specializing in behavioral neuropsychiatry, continuing her commitment to advancing equitable, ethically grounded approaches to neurodegenerative and psychiatric care in underserved communities.
