Julie D. Gunby, CNM, MTS is a doctoral candidate in Theology & Health Care Ethics at Saint Louis University. Her research interest is in theology & medicine, philosophical ethics, and clinical decision making, particularly the ways that ethics and epistemology can be employed to improve perinatal morbidity & mortality. She has practiced for 15 years as a Certified Nurse Midwife and serves on the ethics committee at Northside Hospital Gwinnett in Atlanta where she delivers babies for underinsured women and teaches obstetrics to medical residents. Prior to becoming a nurse-midwife, Julie received a Master of Theological Studies from Duke Divinity and a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from the University of Georgia. Julie is a John Wesley Fellow in theology and a Presidential Fellow at Saint Louis University. She is a former Clinical Ethics Intern with CommonSpirit Health is an alumni of the Paul Ramsey Fellowship.
