Sabha Ganai, MD, PhD, MPH, FACS, FSSO is a double board-certified CGSO surgical oncologist with expertise in the multidisciplinary management of pancreas, hepatobiliary (liver, gallbladder, and bile ducts), and foregut (stomach and esophagus) tumors, as well as retroperitoneal sarcomas and gastrointestinal stromal tumors. Sabha Ganai is facile in minimally-invasive and robotic surgery and HIPEC. Her academic interests are focused on cancer disparities, health geographics, ethics, surgical education, and translational research.
Dr. Sabha Ganai completed her Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering followed by her MD at University of Southern California. She received her PhD in Molecular and Cellular Biology at UMass Amherst and her MPH in epidemiology at the Harvard TH Chan School of Public Health. She completed her CGSO Surgical Oncology training at the University of Chicago with additional training in Surgical Ethics at the MacLean Center. She is excited to return to Southern California after practicing in the Midwest for over a decade. She is a cancer disparities researcher and has been an active committee member for the Society for Surgery of the Alimentary Tract, Western Surgical Association, Americas HPB Association, Association for Academic Surgery, the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the Society for Surgical Oncology, the Commission on Cancer, and the ACS Cancer Surgery Standards Program. Her ethics interests include applications of Aristotlean virtue ethics to medical education and clinical practice. She seeks to elevate surgical care for underserved populations with compassion.
