Menzel has published widely on moral questions in health economics and health policy. In recent years he has written extensively on end-of-life issues. With Tim Quill, Thad Pope, and Judith Schwarz, he is a co-editor/co-author of Voluntarily Stopping Eating and Drinking: A Compassionate, Widely Available Option for Hastening Death (Oxford, 2021), and co-author with Bonnie Steinbock of Bioethics: What Everyone Needs to Know (Oxford, 2023).
