Minneapolis, Minnesota
Hallie Vanney is a medical student at the University of Minnesota Medical School. At a young age, Hallie was diagnosed with Von Hippel Lindau Disease and subsequently became disabled due to a Spinal Cord Injury. Upon matriculating into medical school, Hallie lost access to her chemotherapy as the student health insurance plan does not cover specialty medications. Hallie’s identity as a chronically ill individual with a disability and her experience attending higher education institutions have played a pivotal role in her research interests and motivation to advance diversity and inclusion efforts.
